Along with his holistic approach to diagnosis, he utilizes this technology with a keen eye and expert precision, attending his patients’ specific lower extremity problems.

What is ESWT (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy)

ESWT, also know as EPAT (Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology), is the most advance and highly effective non-invasive treatment method cleared by the FDA for the treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain. This proprietary technology is based on a unique set of pressure waves that stimulate the metabolism, enhance blood circulation and accelerate the healing process. Damaged tissue gradually regenerates and eventually heals.

This treatment represents a breakthrough in addressing a broad range of musculo-skeletal conditions. Dr. Conenello has used this technology to address chronic muscle and bone pain, and/or pain that significantly impairs mobility or quality of life with great success.

It does NOT require anesthesia, requires a minimal amount of time, and patients can immediately bear weight (i.e. walk) and return to normal activity within a few days of the procedure. ESWT has a proven success rate that is equal to or greater than that of traditional treatment methods (including surgery) and without the risks, complications, and lengthy recovery time.

What are the possible side effects/complications?

This non-invasive treatment has virtually no risks or side effects. In some cases, patients may experience some minor discomfort which may continue for a few days. It is normal to experience some residual pain after intense exercise or a full day of work.

Benefits

The benefits of ESWT are often experienced after only 3-5 treatments. Patients have reported immediate pain relief after the treatment, although it can take up to 4 weeks for pain relief to begin. The treatment is designed to eliminate pain and restore full mobility, improving your quality of life. Over 80% of patients treated report to be pain free and/or have significant pain reduction.
